New Student

We got a new student called Michael. He comes from Azerbaijan. He speaks Russian, a little bit of German, English, French and he is learning Chinese. He is 12 years old. He knows how to create robots and also he knows how to create apps for iTunes. He is a really good friend.

Shakespeare

We have a new school mascot, or at least until April. Miss Prendiville's friend got 2 poodles from Canada, a girl and a boy. She got them 6 months ago. The only problem is that the girl is in heat so they had to separate them, that’s when Miss Prendiville offered to dog-sit.

Miss Prendiville is bringing him to school every day so he will not get bored at home. All the students absolutely love Shakespeare. He is a really rare, brown colour and he is the most gentle, cute dog ever. He is 8 months old and he is really huge, but the funny thing is that he still has to grow a lot. The only time we heard him bark was when Miss Prendiville had to leave the office just for five minutes. We will miss him when he will leave. :(

Guest Speaker

We went to Clarens to see the magnificent Jamie Andrew who is a Scottish mountaineer. Unfortunately, he had a very bad experience with his best friend, Jamie Fischer, who died right next to him at the top of the French Alps. Although he was lucky to survive, he had terrible frost bite and had to have both hands and feet amputated otherwise he would have died. After being in the hospital for 6 months, he still continued mountaineering and many other sports for example: skiing, rock climbing, ice climbing, snowboarding and most important of all, marathon running. He also had three babies with his wife who stayed with him the whole time in the hospital. After this really sad story, he juggled for us with tennis rackets stuck to his arms. It was really fun to see. So after all, that day wasn`t so sad! His story was just magnificent!

Skiing

Last Thursday we were able to go to Grindelwald for a day skiing. It was really fun. As we went there last year for a whole week, we were able to spot places that we liked and knew last year, we didn’t get lost!
After coming off the bus, we all went at the top of the mountain and finally got to ski!!!

It was awesome! Millie and Leon were the best at skiing so they went with Miss Fish as the expert group.Luca A., Lucas B., and I were in the group of ‘almost experts’ with Mr. Robinson.

The group of ‘close to almost experts’ was Mara, Carla and Miss Thompson.

And, we are sad to tell that our absolute beginner, John-Erik, fell and broke his arm.

Thinkers

The Lower School class gave an assembly on the theme of the week, thinkers, this morning. They asked us all questions to try to make us think, then we had to find the answer on the wall and walk to it. In case you want to have a go at thinking too, here are the questions they asked us:

Millie: If an orange is called an orange, shouldn't a lime be called a green?
Chloé: Can humans fly?
Lucas: Do stairs go up or down?
Luca: Can you touch a rainbow?
Robin: Does the ocean have a beginning or an end?
Mara: If the Internet is forever, has the Internet been around forever?
Leon: Does lined paper weigh more than blank paper?
Sarah: Is a secret still a secret if more than one person knows about it?

Leon hopes your brain hurts from all that thinking!

Snow time!

We have a lot of snow here now so the children decided to make the best out of this time.
Although everybody had an amazing time so far, it is sad because we just had the last snowball fight with Devin and Lucas.
