Luzern

Yesterday the 22.6.2011 we went to the Transport Museum in Luzern! It was an amazing trip we saw all different types of transport! It started with the train trip to the museum we also walked from the station to the museum - in the museum we first went back to the train! Ms. Fish found a train simulator! We were driving with a BLS train from Bern to Neuchâtel!

Millie went too slowly, Mara stopped in the middle of her way and Luca and I spilt the Coffee out of the buckets!

We went on and we saw a lot, like an old snow plow for the railways!

Then we went to the Cars where we didn’t stay very long but we still saw a lot! I did a multitasking test where I failed!

The next bit was about ships it was really cool!

In the next part we were in the air part where we saw the gondola of the Balloon Breitling with which Mr. Piccard travelled around the world.

There were also two simulators one of a helicopter and a jet. We did the helicopter one and the jet one I wanted to do with Ms. Fish but we had to wait too long! Instead we created our own airline! Then we went up so that we ended in space in a part of the ISS!

After that we had finished the tour so that we had half an hour free time! Luca and I went outside and we played around with little stones! It was really cool!

On the train back we had a little incident: the train had to make an emergency stop! We didn’t know why but after that it was really smelly in the train because the brakes were made of plastic! We were wondering if one of us was driving and had forgotten to press the security pedal!

The trip was great and I would have liked to have some more time to see everything!

Thanks to the teachers for organizing such a cool trip!

Papilliorama

On Wednesday we went to Papilliorama. It was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! We went to the butterfly area, where we investigated them and kind of played with them. Then, we went to Jungle treck where I nearly got attacked by a pink, baby flamingo. Not so cute. We also investigated there. Then last but not least, we went to Nocturama and guess what! We all got attacked by bats and owls. Really scary but we came out alive just like real explorers.

Fernando and Patch

When we went on a school trip a zoo I bought a snake called Patch. When Fernando saw Patch he wanted to be friends with him. Patch also wanted to be friends with Fernando. They spent a school day together and when Patch left Fernando was unhappy. Miss Fish received a new bear called Galileo Galilei, so Fernando will have a friend to stay with. Also Patch has lots of friends at my house.

Love Luca

Here is a photo of me teaching Fernando how to colour and another one of me with Patch.

Bling Bling Day

On Wednesday the 25th of May, we had a dress day which was based on bling. Mara brought a cool glittery t-shirt with a black face on it, Chloe brought lots of sparkly bracelets and necklaces, Lucas B brought a necklace with a dollar sign and Luca A brought a bling t-shirt. Even the teachers joined in! I brought a very sparkly t-shirt too. We haven't decided which charity we are going to choose, we had to give in 5CHF to the contribution.

Afghanistan

A British woman who is now living in Afghanistan to work for orphanages came to visit our school and talk to us about what she is doing in Afghanistan.

What surprised us a lot is that Afghanistan looks a lot like Switzerland. There are a lot of mountains with snow and grass on them.

The Afghan people are very poor and the kids play war for fun because that's all they see, war. Bombs explode all the time in Afghanistan because of the Taliban. Kids played with fake guns because that's what they see in their lives but I was surprised to see children playing in the streets with plastic guns because I thought they would be poorer than that.

They are poor and very violent but to see what they are doing when they're not fighting is surprising. They kind of have normal lives. People help kids to learn, they go out on the streets just hanging out. It's nothing too weird but to see and hear something g different than what you hear on the news is very shocking. You rely on the news and you listen to it for new events but there is a big difference between the first hand news and second hand news.

We saw a lot of photos of the Afghan countryside. We were all surprised because there were mountains with snow. We asked how come Afghanistan has mountains because we thought that Afghanistan was very hot.

We also saw many pictures with kids at nursery school, where they learn and on the streets. It was very sad and moving.

A lot of the problems in Afghanistan were for girls and women. About 20 years ago, girls could not go to school because people thought that men should do better things than women and that women where only to work in the house so they didn't get proper education.
